Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

  • Dec. 25th, 2009 at 8:56 PM

I just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and Holiday - I hope you've spent it (or are spending it) with as many of the special people in your life as possible, that you're having a wonderful day, and that you are safe and blessed! :-)

I'll be back in the 2010! :-)

Bloodheat over at Un:Bound! :-)

  • Nov. 2nd, 2009 at 8:55 AM

So, this all happened thanks to Twitter. :-) If you head on over to this excellent blog, you'll be able to read one of the first (wrote it about 15 years ago the first time) short stories I ever wrote. It began as an essay assignment in High School, and I looked at it at again sometime last year and decided to expand it a bit, give it a fresh look. :-)

So please give it a read and let me know what you think. :-)

P.S. Thanks to the awesome Piotr for re-linking from his awesome website, Fantasy Fan! :-)

Busy with 2 writing exercises.

  • Oct. 23rd, 2009 at 11:04 AM

So, I've received 2 writing exercises from my 'teacher' in LA. :-)

The one involves creating 6 characters, fully, as well as a plot to integrate them with. The other involves seeing what I can do with a single sentence (which was given to me).

Call me a sucker for punishment, but I'm loving it so far. :-) Not only have I created 6 people that began hinting at a pretty weird but awesome plot, but this kind of thing is right up my alley. I loved English in school - using words to create has always been a special love of mine, whether it was writing essays, poetry, reports, etc. I just love words, even though my command of them and the grammar rules associated with them leave much to be desired. :-)

So I will update you all on what the results are as soon as I'm done - this weekend is workworkwork, and not just for my salary! :-)

A Big Project Started

  • Oct. 17th, 2009 at 4:47 PM

Yes, I seem to have found that I am incredibly ambitious and have started what could potentially be a massive novel. Huh. Should I run screaming and buy a straight jacket?

You see, I was going through a folder on my PC with the name ‘My Writing’ and came across character lists. Now, not too many characters, granted, but wayyy back )I’m talking like 4-5 years back) I made these lists, and when I read through them, things started happening.

I had been working on a short story (I set aside my Dragon-story because I was falling asleep – yep, I know) and then I minimized the screen; the character list was sitting there, all innocent. I missed it on the first pass, but now I opened it up, saw the lists, and bang.

Then I drank some tea (our coffee is finished), decided to come a check email and Facebook and blogs and such quickly, and now I’m writing this post. :-)

So, what’s the story about? Well, it involves meteorites, tribal uprisings, the pirate DVD market, and stuff I haven’t thought of yet. :-)

Cheers for now (I’m gonna steal some coffee, have a smoke, and then climb back into the writing),

"Angelsong" done and ready to be edited.

  • Oct. 15th, 2009 at 10:23 PM

So, last night I finished another short story – Angelsong (working title, may change and all that). :-) It’s a really short story, not even 3000 words, but I like it – hopefully I’ve managed to keep it focused and tight, and it definitely packs more of a punch than Bloodheat or Stalker, so I’m chuffed. :-)

I’ll stay away from it until Monday, then I’ll get back into it and start editing and changing and rewriting, fun fun fun! :-) But yep, another one is done. :-)

Final wordcount: 2624 words.

Focused on Writing

  • Oct. 12th, 2009 at 2:52 AM

I've been neglecting my LJ account for a long time now - not only because I started a SFF Review blog (and now launched a brand new one) but also because I just didn't feel the need. I was, after all, blogging about books that I was reading, not about myself and my writing. :-)

But you see, the thing is, I've got so many ideas that not to do something with them would be criminal - and one of my goals is to be a published author by my 30th BDay (2 years to go), so I've got to get my ass in gear and write (well, that and manage my time properly!)!

So, LJ and my first blog (Yes, I changed the name of the blog) will be focused on my writing efforts. I hope to have progress reports for you guys, announcements of where you can read what I've written, etc. :-) Oh, and down the line, news of me being published. :-)

So, yes, I'll be here more regularly. :-)

Will Be Back Soon

  • Sep. 28th, 2009 at 9:13 AM

Well, what a damn shock! I've been concentrating to much on the blog that I've forgotten about my LJ account!

I've seen now that I last posted something about a year ago, so I'll be back early next month with a new post. :-)

See you then! :-)

Things are slowly working again. :-)

  • Oct. 18th, 2008 at 5:21 PM

I've written a bit again, which is great. :-) Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I sat infront of my PC from 10pm till 2am, writing, and even though the eyes were burning and the mind was sluggish, I managed to get a few pages done! :-)

But then what happens? I walk into a bookstore, but Empire in Black and Gold by Adrian Tchaikovsky and The Ten Thousand by Paul Kearney, and swinf by the post office and pick up Debatable Space by Philip Palmer! Three books in one day! Can't they write a bit slower? Give me some time to catch up? ;-) Where would the fun in that be? :-)

Anyway, getting a headache now, so I'm going to drink a few pills, relax a bit, and prepare myself to write again a bit tonight. :-)

  • Oct. 11th, 2008 at 10:31 PM

I am so damn grumpy! I've struggling for two days to try and network the two PCs and I've been failing miserably! :-( Starting to think that it would be a good idea to pick the damn things up and throw them into some kind of industrial-strength grinder! No, wait, pieces might ricochette... how's about they get used in the Large Hadron Collider and get smashed to bits?! :-( Bloody hell.

Outline is done!

  • Oct. 8th, 2008 at 10:31 PM

Well, last night, after reading The Force Unleashed graphic novel, I had this burning need to carry on with my Star Wars manuscript. So I did, and I completed the outline (having an awesome idea in the process) and worked through one of the main character's arc (just jotting down the points of what she'll be doing in the book). Tonight we're watching the second season of Heroes, the season premiere (yes, in SA it takes that long), so I probably won't be writing tonight - well, who knows? Maybe Hiro or Sylar spark something... :-)
